Identifying fallers in Parkinson’s disease (PD)

Dr Paul from the Clinical and Rehabilitation Sciences Research Group, Faculty of Health Sciences, The University of Sydney, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia has developed a 3-test clinical tool for individualized quantification of the risk of falling in Parkinson’s disease. The tool takes into account a history of falls,  freezing of gait – FOG, impaired postural sway, gait speed, sit-to-stand, standing balance with narrow base of support, and coordinated stability in order to develop an evaluation with a high discrimination in identifying fallers.
