Predicting post injury functional recovery in TBI

Writing in the Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation, 02/21/2013 Dr. Eastvold and team from the physical and occupational therapy department of the James A. Haley Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Tampa, Florida, USA  look at the differential contribution of variables in the prediction of 2 specific functional outcomes in a military sample of traumatic brain injury patients (TBI). The functional outcomes were measures of the independent living status at 1 year. The group found that post traumatic amnesia (PTA) , and acute postinjury characteristics as well as time to rehabilitation were all contributing factors.
