Families and carers of stroke patients in the UK

Writing in Journal of Advanced Nursing Dr.Cecil, in a qualitative study of home carers, examines how the lives of families and carers of stroke survivors are affected following hospital discharge of the stroke survivor. The group report on how the lives of the families, who bare the  main responsibility for the care of stroke survivors, are affected by stroke and coping factors that can cause caring to be burdensome for some carers and less to others. The team are from the Institute of Nursing Research, University of Ulster, Coleraine, UK.
