Watch Out for that Hole or Unexpected Landing!

If a knee is twisted abnormally or bent from one side to the next it can cause an injury called Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.
The following are typical situations that can cause ACL injuries:
If you change direction suddenly or cut around an obstacle or  player while one foot is solidly planted on the ground. (Often this  happens in sports  such as basketball, skiing, football, soccer  and gymnastics.)
Stepping off a curb, falling off a ladder, stepping into a hole, jumping from a moderate or extreme height,  or missing a step while walking down a staircase. This is an injury caused by stopping suddenly, with the leg straight or slightly bent.
In basketball following landing after a jump with a sudden slowing down when the leg is straight or slightly bent.
When ACL damage is caused by contact  it can be from playing a sport, from a severe or sudden  accident, or even from less obvious contact injuries. If the knee is hit from the outside as can happen in football, that can also cause an ACL injury.
Inactive people or older adults who have weak leg muscles may injure their knees causing ACL injury during normal daily activities. However they usually injure bones, not ligaments.
Luckily the LEGTUTOR is a solution for the treatment of ACL injury without or prior to surgery and or physical rehabilitation following surgery.
The LEGTUTOR has shown remarkable success in post knee replacement surgery and for other leg and lower extremity injuries.  Together with the 3DTUTOR the LEGTUTOR can be used to increase the patient’s proprioception performance with dedicated games  developed in the rehabilitation software for this outcome.
The TUTOR system rehabilitation concept, which includes the HANDTUTOR, ARMTUTOR and 3DTUTOR is based on performing controlled exercise rehabilitation practice at a patient customized level including balance and proprioception training. This is achieved with real time accurate feedback on the patient’s performance.  The exercises are designed in the form of challenging rehabilitation games that are suitable for a wide variety of neurological and orthopedic injury and disease. The games challenge the patient to perform the exercise task to their best ability and to continue exercise practice. Exercise practice is the most important manual therapy tool in the armory of physical and occupational therapists to ensure optimal rehabilitation.
The LEGTUTOR™ allows for isolated and a combination of knee and three directional hip treatment. The system provides detailed exercise performance instructions and precise feedback on the patient’s exercise performance. Controlled exercise of multi joints within the normal movement pattern prevents the development of undesired and compensatory joint movement and ensures better performance of functional tasks.
The LEGTUTOR™ system is used by many leading rehabilitation centers worldwide for both neurological and orthopedic patients including adults and children. The Tutor system holds FDA and CE certification and is available for use at home through telerehabilitation.
