Gait Velocity and Spasticity Strengthened by LegTutor
immediate effects of electrical stimulation or functional electrical stimulation (FES) combined with passive locomotion on the outcome measures of gait velocity and spasticity.
27 stroke inpatients in subacute phase divided up into ischemic n=16 and hemorrhagic n=11
Therapy intervention: FES + passive locomotion-like movement.
Maximum gait speed + modified Ashworth scale taken 20 minutes after thetherapy.
The conclusions: although not statistically significant the group felt that FES combined with passive locomotion-like movement could improve gait velocity in stroke patients.
